What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine is the practice that allows healthcare providers to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients remotely. At HeyAllergy®, we utilize secure, HIPAA-compliant video services to connect patients with our healthcare providers from the comfort of their own home.

Do I have to become a member to receive care?

No, we do not require patients to sign up for HeyAllergy® membership to utilize our services. Our membership serves to award loyal patients by offering discounts on visits, our HeyPak®, and any of our products.

How do I pay for my telemedicine visits?

You can choose to self-pay or use your insurance. For any payments you are responsible for, you may use your credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) or HSA/FSA card.

What do I need to have on my computer or smartphone for the telemedicine visits?

To conduct your video visit with your desktop, laptop computer or smartphone, you will need internet access and a webcam or built-in camera with audio capability. The video visit will be carried out in your web browser, and you do not need to download any extra applications.

How long is a telemedicine visit?

New patient video visits typically last about 30 minutes. Follow-up video visits usually last about 15 minutes.

What is a video visit like with HeyAllergy®?

Our virtual visits are very similar to in-person office visits. You will connect one-on-one with a healthcare provider via video chat, where they will ask questions about your health history and the symptoms you are experiencing. Based on this assessment, your provider will recommend an action plan to diagnose and treat your condition, including blood tests, imaging studies, prescription medications, and/or sublingual immunotherapy.

Can my child see a healthcare provider with HeyAllergy®?

Yes, we treat patients of all ages. For patients under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must be present during the telemedicine appointment.

Sublingual Immunotherapy / HeyPak®
What is sublingual immunotherapy and HeyPak®?

HeyPak® is our customized sublingual immunotherapy that allows your allergies to be treated from home without any injections. Sublingual immunotherapy, commonly known as “allergy drops,” involves the daily administration of liquid allergen mixes under the tongue. Unlike medications like antihistamines that treat allergy symptoms, sublingual immunotherapy targets the root cause of your allergies. These daily drops provide your body with repeated exposure to small but increasing doses of the allergen(s). Over time, your immune system builds tolerance and becomes desensitized to the allergen, reducing your allergy symptoms and the need for medications.

Who can receive treatment with HeyPak®?

HeyPak® can be used for patients over 6 years old who suffer from environmental allergies to pollens, molds, dust mites, and animal dander.

Can I pay for HeyPak® with my insurance?

No, sublingual immunotherapy in the form of allergy drops is considered to be “off-label” and is currently not covered by insurances. While the safety and efficacy of this treatment has been proven in Europe, the FDA has not yet approved it in the United States. Therefore, we are unable to bill your insurance provider at this time, and patients may obtain Heypak as an out of pocket cost only. By becoming a member of HeyAllergy®, we do offer savings on your HeyPak® treatment.

Are there any side effects associated with sublingual immunotherapy?

The most common side effects of sublingual immunotherapy are considered to be mild, and most often occur during the beginning of treatment. These side effects include throat irritation and itching of the mouth. Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, rarely occur.

What do I need to have on my computer or smartphone for the telemedicine visits?

To conduct your video visit with your desktop or laptop computer, you will need internet access and a webcam or built-in camera with audio capability. The video visit will be carried out in your web browser, and you do not need to download any extra applications.

Why treat my allergies with sublingual immunotherapy instead of allergy shots?

Sublingual immunotherapy offers a convenient alternative for long-term allergy treatment without shots. You do not need to frequent a doctor’s office and can carry out the therapy from your home. It has also proven safer than allergy injections as far as less frequent and less severe reactions.

What are the ingredients in HeyPak®?

Your HeyPak® formula is created based on what you are allergic to and is custom mixed using allergen extracts. Allergen extracts are sterile liquids manufactured from natural substances (such as pollens, dust mites, animal dander, and molds). Non-active ingredients include glycerin, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, phenol, and water.
